Apollo Hosting Review:
Overview:
Apollo Hosting has been in business since 1999. They currently have over 30,000 customers. They are located in Austin, Texas. Apollo Hosting offers a few different hosting plans, ranging from a basic (non eCommerce enabled plan) to a more business oriented plans, which offer eCommerce capabilities as well as additional bandwidth and other extras.
Customer Support:
Apollo Hosting
does not offer 24/7 phone support. They do, however have live chat, e-mail support, knowledgebase, online manuals and video tutorials. We have tested their live support chat, and they appear knowlegeable and readily available.
Account Management/Control Panel:
Apollo Hosting
uses 'Plesk Reloaded' control panel. The already powerful Plesk control panel, featuring all of the standard web hosting management neccessities, now includes additional advanced features. While these features may used by more advanced users, for most web hosting customers, they are unneccesary.
Data Center:
Apollo Hosting has direct fiber optic connections with Frontier
GlobalCenter, Qwest Communications, and Genuity, a division of GTE. All of their servers are equipped with dual redundant 450-watt power supplies, hot
swap Fujitsu drives and force-filtered cooling systems. Our Network Operations
Center (NOC) is equipped with standby machines, industry-leading Liebert
uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs) and a temperature-controlled environment,
all located in a secure, monitored facility. They also have a diesel powered generator in case they lose electrical service.
Bonus Tools / Free Extras:
SiteStudio (website building templates/software)
Application Vault (about 30 web-based applications that you can add to your website such as polls, photo gallery, chat, hit counter, etc...)
SpamAssasin
Blog software
Summary:
Apollo Hosting does not offer the highest disk space and bandwidth around, but they do provide a lot of features and options at a competitive price. |
