Lunarpages Review:
Overview:
Lunarpages was founded in the summer of 2000 when Add2Net Corporation expanded
its hosting offerings to include shared hosting. LunarPages offers two shared plans as well as a dedicated hosting plan. The shared plans let you host 1 domain, and 4 domains respectively. These are decent plans, but for the price, we feel there are better options available. On the plus side, Lunarpages is one of the few web hosts to offer unlimited mySQL databases.
Customer Support:
Lunarpages does not offer 24/7 phone support. Their tech support lines are open Monday - Friday 7 AM - 5 PM (PST) and
Saturday 8 AM - 5 PM (PST). While this may be acceptable for most people, sometimes immediate support and answers are neccessary. They do, however, offer 24/7 email support and live support forum.
Account Management/Control Panel:
Lunarpages
uses cPanel, perhaps the most popular web hosting control panel around today. cPanel provides access to support, e-mail & FTP account management, usage statistic information, database creation and management, server configuration settings, amongst others. You can see a screenshot below.
Data Center:
The Lunarpages 2,000 Mbit fiber network is connected directly to over 100 carriers such as Mzima Networks, NTT/Verio, Level3, AT&T, SBC, Microsoft/MSN, AOL/TimeWarner and Cable & Wireless. They use daily tape backup and a power generator. Their servers are monitored 24/7/365.
Bonus Tools / Free Extras:
Like most other web hosting companies, lunarpages offers many freebie scripts and tools such as: blog, forum, photo gallery and fantastico script library. eCommerce capabilites include osCommerce Shopping Cart, Cube Cart Shopping Cart and Zen Cart Shopping Cart.
Summary:
Lunarpages offers a high allowance of web space & traffic at a competitive price. Lunarpages may be a great solution if you do not require 24/7 phone support or if you have a website which can benefit from unlimited mySQL databases. |
